SPINAL DECOMPRESSION for Severe and Chronic Low Back Pain

When pressure builds up inside the disc, it causes bulging of the jelly-like disc material. With increasing or prolonged pressure it often leads to a disc rupture or herniation which spills out the disc material.

The bulging disc material is what puts pressure on the nerves and other structures that cause pain. This pain can travel into the buttocks and down the legs or into the toes. It can cause numbness and also lead to dysfunction.

Decompression relieves pain by creating a vacuum type suction which reverses the high pressure indise the disc and draws the bulging material back into the disc. The procedure id non-surgical spinal decmpression and is proven successful in 86% of patients with herniated discs.

How It Works
SPINAL DECOMPRESSION works by reshaping the spine using sophisticated computer technology to apply highly specific traction to the site, or sites, of the spine causing the pain. This is not to be confused with the random traction technology of yesteryear, but is a highly sophisticated form of traction that targets very specific areas of the lumbar spine. This therapy drops the intra-discal pressure which accelerates healing in the disc segment. In simple terms, it essentially provides negative pressure that allows fluid, blood and nutrients into the affected discs causing the pain, which enhances the healing process.

Who can benefit from this therapy ?
Most back pain syndromes can be treated through SPINAL DECOMPRESSION. Patients suffering from herniated or bulging discs, degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, sciatica or acute or chronic back pain will benefit from this therapy. Lower back pain, either acute or chronic, can have a devastating impact to the patient's ability to function. SPINAL DECOMPRESSION THERAPY helps you return to normal life without disability.

The Spinal Decompression process explained
Each patient or potential patient is unique in terms of his or her pain. The treatment sessions are tailored to the individual patients needs.

An initial exam consists of identifying or diagnosing the specific lumbar discs causing the debilitating pain through a thorough review of the patient's various medical records.

Once a diagnosis is reached, a custom-tailored treatment schedule is coordinated with the patient's schedule. We offer evening and weekend appointments for the convenience of our customers.

After the treatment series, the patient can return to their normal activities of work, play, and exercise. Each therapy session lasts 20-30 minutes, depending on the number of discs being treated.

Before and after MRI's shown to the right were taken of one our our recent patients. The results we have seen are amazing. Note the reduction in the herniation of the disc.

We use a state-of-the-art medical machine, the ABS System. The ABS machine delivers spinal decompression in a safe, comfortable manner. Many back specialists use the ABS to treat disc bulge and herniation, disc degeneration, sciatica, spinal stenosis/arthritis and facet syndrome. The ABS treatment is non-invasive and safe. Like braces on teeth, the therapy does not cure the spine overnight. Multiple treatment sessions are required to reach optimal results, as repetition is required to achieve lasting relief.

Testimonials
Jay Burneo - Rancho Santa Fe , CA

I had been living with back pain for over a year. I had tried acupuncture, chiropractic treatments, deep tissue massage etc. Finally, I went to see a Sports Medicine Doctor. He requested that I have an M.R.I.

I was diagnosed with a severe bulging disk on my L-5. The doctor told me he could not understand how I was still walking. He advised me to have surgery immediately. I then went for a second opinion. The doctor looked at the M.R.I. and said the same thing that the first doctor said, surgery. I went to see a Neurologist. His advice was to operate only as a last resort.

A friend of mine told me about a treatment called Spinal Decompression and all the wonderful things that were going on with this treatment. I went for a consultation with Dr. Gary Loos. He reviewed my M.R.I. and told me that I would be a perfect candidate for this procedure.

My daily activities had completely shut down...no surfing all summer, no exercise whatsoever. I could not get a good night sleep because the pain was unbearable. Painkillers, Advil and Motrin were taken on a daily basis.

I started treatments with Dr. Loos. After the 5th session I started feeling better so I stuck with it. After my 21st session Dr. Loos recommended that I go for another M.R.I.

I scheduled the M.R.I. on my 50th birthday, just for the heck of it. To my surprise I was 90% cured! I could not believe that I was looking at my M.R.I. I was a new person! I was ready to have fun again...

Now I surf, power walk, exercise and sleep good! Life is very good thanks to Dr. Loos and his treatment. I would (and have) recommended this treatment to anyone with back problems!

Harriet Reitman - Carlsbad , CA

I was diagnosed with spinal stenosis and a protruding disc in my lower back. A series of 3 cortisone injections did not relieve my pain. The next step was surgery. I needed drugs day and night to find some comfort. Life as I once knew it had diminished. Any activity was painful. I stopped my daily walks, any exercising, and gained weight from the inactivity to make my misery complete. At this point I was seriously thinking perhaps surgery would be my only hope when my daughter suggested that I see her chiropractor, Dr. Gary Loos. I did! It was a wise decision!

My husband and I had a thoughtful and thorough consultation with Dr. Loos as he explained the treatment on his special equipment that exerts gentle traction to gradually realign affected areas. I began treatment June 2005. As I progressed through treatments and adjustments, I needed less medicine, many days none at all. I began exercise, walking daily, stretching and using weight training equipment. I was getting my life back.

I continue to see Dr. Loos for maintenance treatments and adjustments. There is no question my mobility and range of motion has improved considerably. I developed patience and keep a good attitude. I'm grateful to Dr. Loos and plan to continue with his help in my care.

Philip Brailsford. - Rancho Santa Fe , CA - Thank you letter

I am writing to thank you for the helpful treatments at North County Total Wellness and strongly recommend the decompression therapy.

Prior to this treatment I had a long history of severe pain in my lower back and legs and had difficulty with such basic activities as walking, sitting and dressing. After 25 treatments I am virtually free of pain and able to resume most normal activities.

I would also like to note the high level of professionalism, efficiency, empathy and friendlinedd practiced by you and your staff.

Dear Dr. Loos,

I am thankful that I found you and spinal decompression. After years of chronic back pain, I finally have found tremendous relief. I was surprised that the treatment began to help from the very first visit. Before spinal decompression, I could not get comfortable lying down due to pressure building in my low back. I would toss and turn until I finally just gave up and got up. Now, not only do I sleep comfortably, my chronic low back pain is a thing of the past.

I would recommend this treatment to others like me who lived with back pain for years without relief. Thanks for your care and excellent treatment.
